"Rough" Seas and Knitting

Upon returning to C18A, we were immediately hit with inclement weather.  this usually is okay, but the winds were blowing at 4o+ knots at 5am (when our sampling time was supposed to start) and forecasted to go up to 50-60 knots.  our operations were halted at 9ish so that we can make a hasty retreat to the "lee" side of the berg for calmer seas and, hopefully, calmer winds.  we didn't get the calmer winds the there was definitely a lee for the swell.  so much for hiding out.  as the day progressed, the prospects of sampling or deploying any toys slipped away.  the crew achieved boat stability by hugging the the wall of the berg and having a tail wind.  as soon as we turned towards the winds, we were in for a bumpy and wild ride.  Always secure anything that you care about, otherwise it could end up broken and all over the floor.  we got this waring more than once.  it's amazing how much stuff gets spread out when one is working.  jeeze.  it's also amazing how quickly one adapts to the motion....well, as adapted as one can get.  with the rougher weather, i'm definitely hitting up the meclizine.

With weather holds on the ops....we have time to persue other things....like knitting.  we'll see how far I can get on borrowed yarn and needles.  one of the marine tech's is working on making me a circular needle.  awesome!

let's see what happens when we actually get to do work....
