Catching up and heading home

setting sun and boat shadow

ok, it's been a awhile since i've posted...especially when this post comes to you after i get home. the last ten days on the boat was mixed with hectic data crunching and packing. i do have to say, the data was crunched, a little bit on inventory was made, and all the packing was done four days before we got back to punta arenas. that time frame includes the fact that we got into port about 20hrs earlier than scheduled.

so, with really nothing to do and the need to get off the boat was the number one priority, i counted the seconds before the okay was given. four of us got off the boat as soon as human possible, sans passports but legal...just don't get into any trouble, and started walking for the closest pub, ole joes. just two blocks from the pier, we arrived with great gusto and soon took over the bar. everybody said that they would not drink too hard that night, but that didn't really happen.

happy hour was two for one. many of us had way more than one drink. :D by the end of the evening (2am) we stumbled back to the boat to sleep off our libations and to prep ourselves for the off-loading circus the next day.

on the 15th, i get up at a reasonable hour....8am. i find a place to stage all our boxes for cargo and proceed to go to breakfast/brunch/lunch with cole, kindel and AK. yummy empanadas.....anything was better than boat food. this was the rewards for getting things done early. the afternoon consisted of sample packing and shipping. mocha was in order at the chocolate shop in town with some supplies (for my ten day trip in southern patagonia) and gift shopping. then it's back to the boat to shower and get ready for the post cruise dinner.....

with that evening of fun, we said out good-byes. most of the group was flying out the next morning. i will be travelling with 5 others (dani, steph, gordy, jake, and amanda) from the boat in southern patagonia. i'm excited about travelling around in the area.

of course, we got a renewal proposal in the works....who knows....maybe next time it'll be awesome!
