Station Life

So....how can one describe station life. people here work hard and get their breaks. the science...doesn't rest. on the day off for the raytheon folks (sundays), if the weather is good, they all head out. if the weather is bad (like this last sunday), they (including the science) stays in. of course, by this time, i want to be outside. i've started to learn the game of cribbage. it's definitely a good game to hone mental math skills. too bad i can't really use a calculator. my roommate, kristen, is really really good at it.

time spent on a blustery sunday

of course, during the weekdays, business goes on as usual. we get our daily awesome meals and daily awesome cookies and snacks and desserts. some folks thought i would be in this remote and destitute place where it's night all (and i mean ALL) the time, with canned beans and nobody to talk to. let's just put it this way, it's pretty plush here. it's like a ski lodge. where did folks think i want going....the south pole? sheesh. i hear the south pole is actually pretty freaking plush with the new station. hey, i'd rather the us taxpayer moola go to this than the silly wars.

anyway, so far the science is slowly but surely heading into some kind of groove. i'm trying not to get burned out and become an alcoholic. i think i might have had some sort of alcohol every night i've been here. man...

anyway, time to work....

hopefully the weather improves tomorrow and both boats we have (18ft zodiacs) will be able to go out and have some fun!!!
